treatment without excision

What is hemorrhoid?

After humans became bipedal, blood flow became more likely to stagnate in the buttocks, causing hemorrhoids. Therefore, none of the four-legged monkeys and chimpanzees have hemorrhoids. It is said that 70 to 80% of people, regardless of ethnicity, have experienced hemorrhoid symptoms, but it is estimated that 30% are clearly diagnosed with hemorrhoids, and of these, about 5% require treatment. With surgical treatment, the frequency is even lower.
When it comes to hemorrhoids, there are the following types:

Hemorrhoid

External hemorrhoids or thrombosed external hemorrhoids → excision or incision
Internal hemorrhoids → Internal hemorrhoids/anal prolapse → Sclerotherapy (treatment without excision)

① Anal fistula → surgery (radical treatment), perianal abscess → incision
② Anal fissure → Surgery for severe cases (radical treatment)
③ Anal polyp → removal

What is hemorrhoid sclerotherapy?

A treatment method in which a hardening agent is injected into internal hemorrhoids (hemorrhoids) to cause inflammation in the lumen of the hemorrhoidal veins and the surrounding connective tissue, and then harden the hemorrhoidal veins by causing fibrosis and shrink the internal hemorrhoids. It was originally created by improving a treatment method using anti-hemorrhoids that was practiced in China. It is indicated for all internal hemorrhoids other than incarcerated hemorrhoids, and is a radical treatment that aims to improve anal prolapse and bleeding by shrinking the hemorrhoid. Since the hemorrhoids are not removed, this is an innovative treatment that causes less pain and bleeding after removal, allowing the patient to go home the same day, and is expected to have the same therapeutic effect as hemorrhoid removal.

Effect of hardening agent (mixture of potassium aluminum sulfate and tannic acid)

① Injection of hardening agent into hemorrhoids → 3 locations per hemorrhoid
② Hemostatic effect due to vasoconstriction within hemorrhoids
Acute sterile inflammation
③ Fibrosis of hemorrhoids
④ Hardening and regression of hemorrhoids

On the day Return home after treatment Prescription drugs/injections Lower blood pressure, lower abdominal pain, nausea
The next day home treatment Anal discomfort/heavy feeling (disappears in a few days)
4th day of operation Completion of prescription medication and medical examination anus narrow
2–3 weeks after operation Transient fever for around 2 weeks (sterile)
